Quick question Chris in your capacity as a heating and plumbing expert :D

Like many I've become concerned at the ever rising electricity bills, to this end I had a smart meter installed, from this I've discovered the biggest offender is the heating pump. When the oil powered heating turns on the electricity usage really ramps up.

The house is a large older 3 bed detached property and the pump is probably 10 plus years old.

Do the pumps really have to use so much electricity?
