Lightweight battery for R1200S.
Time to replace the battery and I'm looking to save weight. Any suggestions / experience with lithium batteries in the 1200S appreciated.

Hi Dobbo
I’ve just this week fitted this
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/156316169666 ... edia=EMAIL
It’s a direct replacement for the original size battery, super light and great cranking power. You will need a charger suitable for Lithium, I use this

Thanks popsky I did'nt realize I needed a special charger? I've got a BMW charger will it do?
Re: Lightweight battery for R1200S.
Dobbo you need to be extremely careful about the charger as Lithium chemistry in your lightweight battery is totally different to the old Lead /acid batteries.
You've seen the You Tube videos of electric cars on fire like flame throwers and the fire service cannot put them out. If you haven't go and google it and model aircraft LiPo fires.
As a lifetime aeromodeller as well as motorcyclist I have used LiPo batteries for 20 years now and there are many many examples of Lipo batteries on fire in the modelling world ( burning down sheds, garages and even houses) and most come from mis-charging or ill (physical) treatment of the battery. Just make sure you have a proper Lithium Polymer or Lithium Ion compatible charger DO NOT use a regular Lead acid or NiMh charger.

If this type is yours the blurb says it’s for all batteries including Lithium
