So what do you think of the new place then? Any thoughts/comments/questions/requests gratefully received.

Cheers & a happy new year,

Paul [smilie=dancer.gif]
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

Hi Paul

I have just joined a Triumph forum and for posting pictures you can drag and drop, is this going to be possible with new software or do you still have to go via image host.
Cheers

Hi Gavin,

You can finally now add images to a new post by dragging and dropping them into the message composition window. That adds a link in the attachments block, below the message composition window, and if you place the cursor where you would like to see the image, and then press the "place inline" button, it will add the picture to your post, like this:

There you go!

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Ted,

Yes, you can find that under "Quick links", just below and to the left of the big Boxertrix logo in the header.

Cheers,

Paul

Yes, it is now different to most other forums, but I suppose we will get used to it.

I guess it may take a little adjusting to, having the poster's details on the right, but I think it makes the flow of the discussion easier to read.

cheers,

Paul

Any chance of getting the caps and spelling to self correct (as in MS Word) when typing.
Its a pain to keep having to go over and correct / delete all the i's and replace with I's etc..

Just a thought as you asked for them.

Is it possible to jump to the last post of a topic instead of scrolling through all conversations, I'm using an iPhone so not sure if that makes a difference Paul.

Hi Phil,

The site is optimised to display less information on a small screen/window and it looks like one of the things that is dropped is the quick link to the last post in the thread header, to the right of the poster's name. I'll have an investigation to see if I can find a way to restore that.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Paul,
The new layout doesn't work for me, sorry to say.
I use an iPhone to browse and the new postings are not so enjoyable to read.

This is because I have to read from right to left to see who the poster is. But mainly because of the 'signature box'.
It is far too big and depending on the poster, takes over half the screen up. It can have many more lines than the comment itself.

I have no interest in bikes sold years ago, etc. and a humorous remark quickly wears thin when you read it many times in the same thread. Year after year.
There is no way to avoid them as the font and size are the same as the posting itself.
I could go on, it really gets up my nose!

I appreciate that you have spent time on the new layout. I'm not adverse to change but I just can't get on with the way it is now.
Cheers, Neil.

Hi Neil,

If you don't like the signatures, you can stop them being displayed. To do that, you need to:

- go to your user control panel (top right of each screen, drop down by your user name)
- select the "board preferences tab"
- chose the option "edit display options" and tick the "no" radio button for "display signatures"

If you are reading on your phone you should see the name of each poster and a small version of their avatar at the top of each posting.

Hope that helps,

Cheers,

Paul

Hi I don't mind the new layout and it was time to update the software.

Cheers Paul
