R1100S History (model specifications over the years?)

As it says; what you've done to your bike and how it helped make it better.

R1100S History (model specifications over the years?)

Postby bfisher » Mon Feb 09, 2015 8:39 pm

Hi Guys,

I'm still a newbie to the r1100s and what i'm struggling to get to terms with is the history of the various models between 99 - 05 (stand to be corrected if they ran longer than this). I want to understand if there is a lot of difference not so much between different models themselves (reasonably well documented (i.e. s versus ss vs cup replica's etc), but did the bike evolve over the years & if so what where they?

Oh dammit. The list is long and colourfull with regards to the model history. You can do a search on pelican forum but I'm sure somebody will be around with more time to explain.

And welcome to the forum.

Thanks BMbler, got my hopes up there for a while, but:

BMbler wrote:http://www.bmbikes.co.uk/bmwmodels.htm... just has one spec for all years, does not cover improvements and changes in production over years as OP requested.

http://verrill.com/moto/bmwchron/index.shtml...

https://www.motobins.co.uk/history/history.php
... These two mention R 1100 R, RS, RT, GS but not R1100S

Will have a look at Pelican Parts but thought they were into American cars so thinking they will have US spec information.

Cheers though, I'm picking up random bits of informative info from the forum posts. Geoff

Cheers m'dear, that's the sort of thing I was after, mine's a 99 T reg single spark that's seen a bit of action. I'll post some pics eventually and get a critique of it hopefully.
Thanks, Geoff

Hi Geoff,

Welcome on board! I'm in Brum myself (although not a local) - whereabouts are you?

The pelican parts forum has sub sections for various German cars, and also has one dedicated to our favourite motorcycles - have a look here:
