That story reminds me of a Ford Escort I had from new some years ago. I had months of trouble with it not starting first thing in the morning. It seemed to flatten the battery if it didn't start first turn. Went back to the garage several times to no avail. One day we were unpacking the boot on arrival at a holiday cottage. My young son climbed into the empty boot, so I shut the lid (bit cruel, I admit). A little voice said "that's ok dad, there is a light on in here". Bingo...! That's why the battery was alway lacking oomph.

I'd like to make it clear that he is not still in there. The garage let him out when they changed the faulty light switch. :-)
