GSW

Post by Phil K »

OK the 11s is a keeper, I love its foibles, but in a moment of weakness I parted with some wedge and collect an R1200gsw tomorrow :-)

Question for anyone with one of these; can you recommend an aftermarket tall screen (as I'm 6ft 2) and need a bit more hight??

You'll fare better to ask those questions on UKGSer. Get the ADV screen.

Lol

They do like a bit of abuse :)

If it was a GS I'd say forget the adventure screen and get a Givi Airflow. I've just picked up a couple of the longer MRA's for our two R12S's but not got round to fitting them yet. I thought there were more options for the R11S though.

You need to have a bit of a skin on you and not respond to the baiting. It is a very good forum and if you have been on there for as long as Blackal and me then you will recognise the idiots. Otherwise try ADVrider.com but that is a merkin site.

Remember that whatever is posted on the internet is open to scrutiny and comments of the world. In the end it is all internet sh1t and I don't mind the cr@p that is spewed forth from an imbecile behind a keyboard. He yet has to say it to me in my face. If you are easily offended by twitter or Facebook or anything like it you are a week minded @ashole. Let me rephrase that, if you don't give a sh1t what is posted on the internet then you should be ok in life. Sorry Gromit but that is how I feel about forums in general. Boxertrix is one of the best forums I frequent, however there is more than 1 forum for flat twin sporty BMWs and it is useful to register on both.

Back to the topic. In this case I feel that the op should ask his question on there. He'll get a better answer to his questions be it numpty or technical. If any trixter has a R1200GS LC and is experiencing the same problem then please share your wisdom. I beg you please not to ask any oil questions over there.

Forums don't have to be like that, its not mandatory. Boxertrix is not like that, nor is a Triumph forum I am regularly on , which proves the point.

A thick skin is all very well, but I have no time for abusive arsehole keyboard warriors, luckily the entire Interweb is not like that if you are a bit selective about who you hang about with.

I agree with you Kim, I may be naïve but I cannot understand why people on forums have to be "big" and obnoxious. I had an incident on UKGS a few years ago and the person in question wouldn't look me in the face at one their camping weekends in Beddgelert which kind of proves the point.

That's why I like it here so much, everyone's very friendly mostly, which as you say proves that civilised behaviour is cherished by some :)

The whole "big man" attitude on some forums puts me right off them, not cos I'm thin skinned just cos I cannot do with the attitude

Hey! You're making us sound like "Dumb and Dumber!"

UKGSer is still a very good source of information - due to the extremely wide range of occupations, skills, experiences and connections.

Ask about anything - you'll be surprised at the knowledge and offers of assistance that come out of the woodwork.

First off what is a GSW?

On my first GS I had a Touratech clip on deflector which worked extremly well.

I now have a GS Adventure, the clip on deflector gives the same feeling as the Adventure screen

Also known as a GSLC - the newer liquid assisted cooling model.

I tried a number of screens on my older twin cam GS, but the only one that is of any real improvement was/is the Givi.
