I like, to quote the police bike cop I did a day's session with a few years back, to 'make progress' and as I was following the bloke, this really did mean exceeding the limit but not excessively. Mostly on A roads with a bit of motorway in Somerset and was a total blast. It genuinely improved my riding. But if we'd got zapped by a camera, a fine and points would be presumably been handed out though if it had been a hand held and we'd been pulled in, would matey have got his warrant card out? Possibly.....
Last week I got done by a sodding camera van (in my car) on the Evesham bypass - 69 MPH in a 60 zone. Should have woken up to the odd character flashing lights at me - idiot. The third time (once on a bike) in 35 years of driving /riding. But wait.... what was this white form within the bumpf that landed on the doormat - an invite to a 'speeding course': £85 and no points....a no brainer. Certainly means I'm much more aware of exceeding the limit which I frequently do on the bike and in the car. I even bought a radar detector a few years back but it was pretty useless. A jammer would have been short term fun but totally illegal of course.
Will be interested in how they conduct the course - ritual humiliation or genuinely useful? We shall see. Anyone out have a view on the course?
If, after such a course of corrective training, you again dare to exceed the stated speed limits, you are locked up and they loose the key. As for the insurance charge...
I'm always surprised how many peeps recognise me even from the back when i'm out on me bike. No sooner av I overtaken 'em than they flashing their h/lights at me. Fecked if i know any of 'em 2 b honest tho.
I see they've just banged up a bloke from WOLVERHAMPTON. 180mph on the M6!!! 180MPH? He shuda bin charged with 'NOT FECKIN TRYING HARD ENOUGH'.
.
Mr. Spock is my role model so be advised; I possess no (discernible) sense of humour.
It's all VFR (DCT) round here now. STILL missing my 1100s tho.
