endorsements up on here (yes me as well) so I cannot see a problem with a note telling people he has moved.

ps What about people listing there own sale with an ebay link !!
OK...
I would like to think that if a trader wishes to self-promote via a new thread (which is incidentally not in the Classifieds section where it ought to be) he'd have the courtesy to contact either Paul or myself by pm. I'm sure he's a decent bloke and does a good job, but for a trader to come wading in with what is effectively an advert for his own shop isn't great form imho. Most other forums would have hung him out to dry for doing the same. If he'd done it on UKGSer (for example) they'd be throwing him to the wolves by now. On a couple of hifi forums I frequent they actually
charge traders for the right to advertise (think it's £50/year); I don't agree with that, but (as with Opie/Sandbar etc) there's some kind of up-front discount offered to the board's members which helps build a mutually-beneficial relationship.
I've actually been giving consideration to opening up a new 'trade forum' where traders can have their own ads, but to do so they'd have to openly offer some kind of discount (or incentive) to the Board's members. That way they get 'free' promotion of their skills/wares and it prevents stuff getting jumbled up in the melee of the private ads section.
As to eBay links to folks' own sales - I don't like it. However, the majority of people who do post up links to their own stuff have at least put up the kit for sale on here for starters, to give us first shout. By doing so it shows loyalty to the group and is one of the great things about what makes this place so good. If the sale on here doesn't work out
then I don't see any real issue with an eBay link.
