Clocks gone mad

Post by gus »

The digital clock on my bike has thrown a wobbler.
No display this morning until i started up.Then it slowly came to life showing 1.00.Started bike up after work and it did the same thing but showed 1.13.
Any ideas?

Gus mate - if it's removable from the rest of the instruments, I'll have a spare from the wreck if it goes completely tit's up.... or perhaps your clock has got confused at all the 1970's paint jobs you keep dressing it in

BTW - what is the latest one - I've not seen it recently. I've been wondering about getting a yellow (ARHHHHHHHHHHHHH) one off e-bay and getting it converted to something faster, like blue

Its still black/red/white at the moment.
The other halfs off to Laos mid november, thus freeing up valuable kitchen space for bike renovation.
I,m gonna need somewhere warm for the spraying too!
Rest assured it will be suitably garrish to the uncultered among the board.
I ll have a poke about with the clock tomorrow and see whats what.

Gus,

I had the same problem. i.e. clock fading and the horn working only intermittently (discovered at my MOT...) Fear not, all is explained on the following thread:

Cheers,

Paul

You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

Gus,

That happened to me to. It worked sporadically because the two ends of the broken wires made intermittent contact with each other.

Cheers,

Paul

You may as well get the sprayer going while the panels are off :D

Well that's not quite my problem :(
It seems the wiring as it enters the r/h relay box was the culprit(clock faded and restarted when that was moved) and only the clock seems affected. The clock has now stopped working and all of the wiring looks ok
I think the purple connector in the relay box is the one that contains the wires to the clock But I dont want to strip back the outside sleeving without knowing wich wires to check. Anyone know the clock wiring colours?

I aint had chance to look at mine yet..
Mines all back to normal.
I had a quick visual check at the looms by the fuse boxes.Look ok to me.
I will strip the bodywork off and have a closer look when time permits.
Keep us posted about what you find carl.
