BMW weekend in Garmisch Partenkirchen
Picked up the BMW tour days brochure thingy at the NEC. Dates for the 90th anniversary of BMW are listed as 3 -10 July so I presume the actual event is over the weekend in between those dates. Anyone up for it? I definitely up for it but if anyone else wants to do it maybe we could have a Boxertrix posse

could be a combination of camping and la di da hotels. I'm 99% certain I'm doing it. Worked in the Allgau region in a village called Oberjoch about 60 miles from Garmisch - once cycled there and back via Plannsee - about 120 mile round trip.

Spoke to someone from Motorrad activity days and she confirmed the camping was free last year. They have booked 30 of the 90 places they have. Costs for BM organised trip as follows
single rider single room£1299
single rider shared room £899
rider and pillion sharing room £1699
meals are included and they have a vip area with a few glasses of beer thrown in.
Anyone any thoughts?

<ouch> I'd love to go but would have to camp and not go via BMW escorted route .... at those prices I'd expect the roads to be surfaced with kittens
The ferry/tunnel over is cheap enough then there's just the fuel as it would be nicer to not use the peage and take a bit longer on the journey through France to Bavaria.
I certainly don't have a problem with up to 1300 miles in a day but I appreciate others don't like doing that heavy a schedule
16 hours for 620 miles of non peage from Calais > Reims > Frieburg > Garmisch Partenkirchen
9 hours if you hit the peage but that's as dull as dishwater.
I reckon roughly from north wales it's about £290 ish of petrol there and back. Then what £40 or £50 for a return ferry. Plus camping a few nights, beer and food .... what £500 min?
Of course another option it to ride to Dusseldorf (from either Calais or one of the Dutch ports) and put the bikes one on the motorail train to Munich. Don't know the prices on that but I guess they still do ferries from Hull to Zeebrugge or Amsterdam?

Steve that seems a better option - I don't really like the idea of an organised tour. There is one hotel I do want to stay in if I do the independant option which is the one where I worked - want to be the other side of the bar so to speak. I may just book holidays to cover the independant tour and make it my main holiday. Might then be going to Moto cross des nations later in the year so need to look at dates

autoroutes and autobahn, tedious but fast riding ... dial in three figures and wait till the refill repeat as required. It was Berlin to Barcelona via Holland a few years ago.
More regular was north Wales to Nice, first time on a KLR600 trail bike, in one hit ... that one was harder going
