Hi Chris

Following the First Ministers briefing yesterday and the max 6 people from 2 households allowed to meet, I have taken the decision to cancel my Porsche Boxster 2 day meet this month, it was the exact replica of what we did on the bikes in July, to Banff and back and unless the government remove this new law we won't be coming to Moffat I'm afraid in October. Both Carolyn and I believe adhering to the guidance is the right thing to do considering how this virus is rising in numbers again so quickly.

If the law and guidance changes next month for the good we will be coming but as it stands we won't be.

We are both gutted, we were so looking forward to both meets and meeting up with like minded people but unfortunately it doesn't look like it is going to be possible.

Thank you for organising your 'Back End Buchhie', I know how much time and effort it takes.

All the best
John & Carolyn

hi john, no worries matey.

Hi Peoples , firstly i respect anyone`s views and decisions regarding their own welfare and safety.

I have spoken with the Hotel and am reporting back as I said I would.

The management assured me that we would be welcome and treated as a group, a bubble, call it what you want, the Hotel is not open to the general public, those in our group staying outwith are welcome within for dining and socialising. Tables can be arranged in 4`s , 6`s or even singles and doubles for those who want to be treated as a "micro bubble". The other measures we are all familiar with, face masks, washing handie`s ,respecting distance and being mindful of others. No kissin, Huggin or side fistin`

Guys we are not joined at the hip! Observe the managements instructions on arrival.

If you need further info of others recent experiences at the Buccleuch Arms Hotel ,Moffat. Visit Trip Advisor reviews.

Hi Chris,
Glad to hear that we will still be welcome in Moffat, looking forward to getting some miles on the new bike and its a place Alan always enjoyed visiting. Got out on the bike on Friday--upto Hawes for breakfast and then up over Buttertubs and over the tops (where some of his ashes are) to Kirkby Stephen/Sedburgh/Kirby Lonsdale/ Skipton & back home--Really enjoyed myself, Back into biking now I think!!

Regards Peter.

Peter, that is great news, we are chuffed to bits you are enjoying your new bike! Al and I have been busy scoping areas for a suitable Autumnal run and making sure it can work as we all expect and hope for.

Reg. Gwen made the right decision

On a serious note, whilst in Moffat I took the opportunity to pop into The Buccleuch Arms Hotel and see for myself what arrangements were in place and to speak with the owner Dave , to get details of how he and the rest of the staff are managing safety, and compliance with most recent Covid rules.

He detailed the efforts they are making and explained very clearly what he expected from us.

1. Within the parameters and intent of the rules, on arrival you will be instructed on procedure

2 Provision in advance of dining numbers.

3 Contact details of each resident.

4 Non residents of this group are permitted. Contact details required.

5 Tables in the dining and social area arranged to our requirements in fours or sixes and distanced accordingly. Dave informs that there is another area available upstairs to cope with requirements if needed.

6. Contactless payment.

While detailing all the mitigating measures they have in place , Dave appreciates that it is up to the individuals in our group to have sufficient discipline and sense, to make it all work safely.

I have the Bucchie Table menu and will post it shortly for your choices for the Saturday evening along with meet and greet suggestions for the Friday evening. Saturday morning is a 10 am prompt start with a full tank.

I was satisfied that the Hotel is managing the safety within the parameters and intent of current safety restrictions and am looking forward to a great weekend there.

We will post the route for your garmins when I pick the bones out of our most excellent day yesterday.

A decision implies a considered thought process John. I have difficulty with that sometimes

Somewhat confused by all the new rules, any update regarding our trip?? Don't want to put anyone in danger but it would be nice to get out and see every one again - socially distanced of course.

Dang!
Glad I thought to check in. I’m uncertain as to the rules and how they’d Impact. I’m really keen to be out and about having only clocked 8000 fun mikes in the three months I’ve had the old boiler.

Did I see there’s a car contingent to this trip too. If the weather is shocking, would I be forgiven for bringing my Boxster?

I’m not inclined to cancel on the basis I’m in another hotel (bubble of one so far) and really want to dine at Claudios for the steak, so if he’s taking bookings, I’m inclined to come.

Tim, forgiven. Claudios were taking bookings last week, they seem to have things in order. Reduced capacity however.

Peter, nothing has changed, its on till its off. T and c`s apply. We are not outlaws and will be most welcome in Moffat and where else we visit.

Andy.. till next year.. stay fit.

It`s gonna be a long winter trixters.
