So .. now there's been a bit of interest from the previous discussion, and our Irish contingent have shuffled forward and volunteered to organise etc
First this poll to confirm broad interest then if needed another later to firm some dates maybe?
Think of it, a whole new country to rampage through The ferry costs aren't too prohibitive, the hotel Eyore suggested looks to have reasonable prices, we have route guides so all we now need is YOU
For those coming from the S or SW there's the Fishguard crossing for those from mid UK there's Holyhead and for those from Northern parts there's Stranraer so easily accessed by all
I personally would probably ride to Fishguard and return via Holyhead (or may even take an extra day off work and return via Stranraer)

Wot he says, ferrys are cheap enough especially off peak season.
From south Wales you have a choice of Stena Fishguard to Rosslare
or Irish Ferries , Pembroke Dock to Rosslare. Both run within half an hour of each other .
From Holyhead the choice is again Stena to Dublin Port or in the summer to Dun Laoghaire by fast ferry.
or
Irish Ferries to Dublin Port by either conventional or fast ferry.
The proposed base at Woodenbridge is absolutely perfect for either Dublin or Rosslare feries being only an hour and a bit either way, and as mentioned even Belfast is no big deal.
Lots of nice roads and scenery . I always love hopping on a ferry as it always feels like an adventure on a bike.
Anyway I am in.

True, when I go on my annual August bank hols weekend in the Highlands I always try and work in a ferry somewhere as it makes it "feel" more exciting and abroad somehow.

to be honest, and I've only been over on the bike twice, it never rained, which is more than I can say for Scotshire or Welshire

I won't be going as I'm planning on heading across to France next year, all being well. Probably back down to Flash as it's been ages since I've seen Tony. If anyone wanted to tag along then I'll put up details nearer the time, on a separate thread.
