Come visit Kington?

Postby el-nicko » Sun Mar 31, 2013 1:32 am

If anybody's thinking of heading into mid-Wales along the A44 this summer why not break your journey by swinging off the by-pass into Kington town? The Oxford Arms (http://www.the-oxford-arms.co.uk) does good food, real ales, rear parking, plus, the 'gaffer's' a biker. Further into town, The Burton Hotel ( 1 Mill St, Kington, HR5 3BQ) has lots of parking space and outside tables at the rear and is open to non-residents. During the summer months I often see bikers whizzing along the by-pass into Wales and think, maybe if they knew they'd find a welcome they'd visit this quite little back-water. So ride into town next time your in this neck of the woods boys. You'll be glad you did.

Thanks for this tip Nick (which I spotted since returning from Easter weekned so def willl look at Kington as a base for the next bash.

Despite the brass monkey weather (it was pretty much everywhere in UK) we really enjoyed stay near Hay-on-Wye (at the Baskerville Arms PH in Clyro) and great roads over your way, such as:
* Craven Arms - Clun - Newtown.
* sample video on youtube at http://bit.ly/12VKXaU
* Hereford - Abergavenny - Senny Bridge - over Brecon Beacons - Llyswen - Hay.
* Llandrindod Wells - Builth Wells = an IAM favourite road

Cheers, John
