R1100S Master Cylinder (Front Brake and Clutch) Refurb Parts

Postby jeznewsome » Sun Jan 05, 2020 5:06 pm

Having seen a post on Facebook where the front brake master cylinder had dumped it's fluid on the RH Fairing paintwork and also having had a problem with the front brake master on my similar age Buell S1W I figured it might be a good idea to refurb the master cylinders when I change the bars to the standard rather than comfort items.

Having looked at the parts diagram I can find online it looks like a piston is pretty expensive, over $100 on the site I normally check parts on (https://shop.maxbmw.com/fiche/DiagramsM ... ?vid=51678) which would make the refurb a tad expensive.

Anyone else done some refurbing of the master cylinders and is there a 'magura' or pattern kit of seals/piston (or alternative parts) available?

Not yet , but as mine is 20yrs old I've got it on my to do list... £60 odd stg seems to be the price generally for the repair kit and with brakes I don't usually begrudge spending money within reason balanced against brake failure !!

Hmmm ...... dropped into a dealer today and the piston and dust boot come to £77.45 which is a little steep, especially as the nissin repair kit for the buell was around a 1/3 of that cost.

I know brakes need to be right but that is a bonkers cost.

I don't know exactly what the diameter of the BMC is, 16mm or 20mm? If you can confirm the size and then do a search I guess . Venhill list some kits but they're still £ 50 odd stg...

Was going to suggest Beemer Boneyard but it seems they are having some grief with their normal parts. Might be worth an email?
Over the years I reckon I get 50% of my orders delivered with no other charges from the USA. But painful when you do have to pay though. Roll on a new Boris deal ...

Brake is 16mm and clutch 13mm (according to the parts list I can find). I'll have a look at the venhill site
