Handling
the handling of my BCR has felt off for a while, hard to quantify but it seems to steer too quickly and tuck under feeling at times. Tyres are reasonably new, no play detected so far anywhere. Any ideas guys?

Steve, is your bike suffering from front tyre Toblerone syndrome?
Seriously, I've found the fornt tyre of the 11S quickly forms into a triangular shape; I was surpised to find how much I wrestle the beast into corners when pushing on.... have read lots of stuff about counter steering etc and it's surprising how much counter steering I use when working the 11S.... run your hand over the profile of the front tyre, it may be 'tobleroned' hence why it feels like it wants to tuck under....... hope this helps.
Cheers,
Rob

Tyre pressures are to Conti spec, which is what I always run
2.5 bar fr
2.9 bar rr
I've tugged at the forks and cannot feel any play in the telelever or steering head bearings, must admit I haven't checked the fr. wheel bearings.
Fork clamps all nipped up as intended
Front tyre is almost new
Rear is about half worn
Cannot detect any play on the swing arm bearings or the paralever or bevel bearing. Paralever ones "may" be a couple of lbs tight as it moved when locking the lock nut up.
It's a strange one to quantify as it just feels nervous in corners rather than its normal rock solid stable.

Seized (partial?) driveshaft spline?
Learned about that one a few posts back.
The guy I bought it off went in detail on how he'd freed it off and lubed it before I bought it so I'm guessing not that.
Would any one know what effect the paralever bearings being too tight would be?

If there's extra drag (friction) associated with it then one might assume it would be similar to extra damping. Just guessing though.

Yeah, it will effect how the arm moves up and down. Overtightening anything round and the tendency is to ovalize something. Can not see how out of tolerance swing arm bearing points will make the bike tuck in, Is the steering damper goosed?slparry wrote:Corvus wrote:Long shot.

Fiat Panda.
Fiat Scudo (with speedblock, pipe carrier, reversing sensors, reversing camera, tow bar, some new rust and Fake Plumber logo)
started out with nothing, still have most of it left.

As a heads up guys I've fixed it. The paralever bearing was a gnats whisker too tight, backed it off a bit so there's a whisper of detectable play there and normal loony tunes is resumed .. phew I was worried it was going to get expensive or summat

Glad it's sorted.
Duly noted for future reference!

Do you reckon though that if it was tightened up to where it originally was that you would notice ? ( assuming that it was a blind test)

definately it was like riding with the tyre pressures way out didnt feel safe at all

This is interesting. I changed my bearings for the bronze bushes recently. I adjusted the pin as accurately as I could, then did not ride the bike for a while. When I later began riding, I thought the poor handling was down to me having forgotten how to ride, the tyre pressures or the 'new' Maxxis tyres. Tyre pressures were re-checked and more miles ridden in the hope my learning would catch up. A chat with a pal who had also recently replaced those bearings with OE reminded me to check the play. Released the pin and carefully reset the play. Instant driveability again. I suddenly could ride again. Or, more likely, those bearings have now bedded in and the end float is just right. The bike felt as though it had to be ridden upright, any more than a slight lean it seemed to fall. Now it has the usual easy, neutral feel, taking lean without any inflection, from one side right over to the other.
