Sports Cases on 1200S

Postby slparry » Wed Oct 02, 2024 9:03 am

There's two types of locks available from BMW, one set, are preconfigured to your existing key, the other type are the ones where they can be configured to any key, which are the more common type

PS to remove the locks from the Sports cases and probably the type on the 1250R/RS and XR's as the locking assy appears in many cases check out the video

I remember removing the lock from K’s F800 top box after the “Dunsop” incident (sry again to Paul for the heart stopping avoidance manoeuvres) blimey I wish it had been that simple, must have taken me at least 3 hrs over a couple or four attempts

The F800R/R1200RT/K1200GT top case is easy enough but fiddly

Last one I did I gave up after a couple of attempts (in fairness the cat was "helping" me) ... then on the 3rd attempt the special tool simply clicked in the locking wafer
