Went out for a great spin through North Wales yesterday with Steve and Paul (WW tail end Charlie) to check out an alternative hotel for the 2022 WW.
Great scenery, company and great roast pork lunch.
However, on the way back home from Bala in the dark I realised just how poor the R1100S main and dip beams were (or my eyes are deteriorating as fast as my prostate and arthritis is!)
When the moon was not behind a cloud I could just about do 40mph, when it was hiding, it was 30mph! Now 50 miles blind in the cold, fog and nearly stacking it into the hedge about 20 times is not my idea of fun.
Steve has kindly sent me links to extra driving lights, but I think I would also like to upgrade to HID the main and dip bulbs.
Did a search on here for these and there are a few really old threads.
Has anyone done this recently and can point me to a supplier still in business where the conversion is plug & play rather than modifying stuff which can't be reversed?
As ever, thanks for any advice/pointers.

Hi SP250
I’d be very grateful if you could share any information you come across that could improve on the standard R1100S lights please? I’d like to improve mine.
Cheers

I was also in N Wales on the R11S at the weekend and riding in the dark to the B&B on Llanberis on Saturday could have done with more light so any information gratefully received.
Might I have waved at you on the A5 on Sunday?

Jez, If yours was the bumble bee colours, like mine, then yes we waved at each other on the A5.
2 Twins, Yes I'll pass on, or post what I find out.

Hello,
Have a look at this site as they seem to offer kits for the R1100S?
https://www.ledperf.co.uk
I think another member who may no longer be posting on here had these.
Haven’t got around to buying a set for my R1200S as I don’t really ride at night anymore.
Have you also considered Osram Nightbreaker bulbs - I use them and found them to be a decent upgrade.
Best regards,
David

If any help at all. I've also recently upgraded my R12S to the above mentioned "Osram Nightbreaker bulbs".
Whilst I've not been out in the pitch black yet, I did ride in some "murk" the other day, and they're noticeably better. That's for sure.
Cheers, Nick.

Re: Main & Dip upgrade
I've fitted Osram Nightbreakers H1 & H7 to the headlights and find the light output better but I didn't think the headlight was too bad to begin with. I also ride around Wales in the dark. Might it be worth checking to see if you've got a healthy 12 volts at the lamp sockets? It'd be an easy fix to clean some earth connectors or even add a relay.
