spark plugs

Postby boxerscott » Wed Jan 29, 2020 5:57 pm

How much!!

Replacement plugs for my 1200r lc should be changed at about 12k miles, They want about £13 each. I checked my valve clearances last night (i could not sleep) thought it would be a good idea and take my mind off expiring of this miserable virus i have picked up.

Needless to say as the plugs looked great i will not be taking that advice.

The last car I had with spark plugs only required them to be changed at 60K miles! I figure that modern fuel injection, ignitions systems and relative consistency of mixture mean that they last a shed load longer than they used to.......but as you have found they are more expensive than they used to be too

They want about £13 each

and you need 4 presumably!

Can't find the invoice for my 12K service but book is ticked to show that they were replaced. Can't say I noticed any difference!

I think you'll find that replacing plugs at 12 k is called preventive maintenance, as opposed to replacing them when required = corrective maintenance..

Of all the things that fail on a modern vehicle ...... is a spark plug one of them?

They rarely fail but maybe if you hook the bike up to a gas analyser you'll find it isn't performing as well as it should in the emissions dept or maybe it really is just a way of getting owners to part with their hard earned [smilie=hmm.gif]
