Im new to the group, so "hello" despite my 1999 R1100S providing sterling service for 3 years
Im just about to fit a new starter motor -mine's died- but for the life of me I cant seem to be able to remove the starter-motor plastic cover. It's silver, loose and is shown the Motorworks site here:
https://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Shop ... 0_30_JA_75
Fourth one down - ELT42383
Ive got the Haynes manual but needless to say it shows the other type, with an obvious screw-fixing, not my type that doesnt!
One of you R1100S gurus tell me how to remove the cover without breaking tangs off or owt? It's a fairly fiddly fit underneath the LH fuel injector. Does it simply pull off or is there a hidden fixing I cant see
TIA
Simon

You need a 5mm allen key to undo the screw which is tucked out of view on the back of the cover. You can see it with a mirror, no3 here.

I am convinced that BMW have an engineer who is specifically tasked with designing obscure places to hide fasteners.
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.
