Taken in 1999 on a weekend to Portmeirion (where else in a 7? ). Still miss that little car - it was a riot. Photo taken by someone from the Hotel (hence it's not very well in focus - sorry!) on my Nikon F3/50-1.4 on Kodachrome 64.

Always lusted over a Lotus Super 7

Always lusted after a Nikon F3 myself. Pick them up for nothing these days....unlike the Lotus 7 !

Dunno about cheap F3's - got £500 for mine in the summer when I sold it with a 50mm lens.
Got the same for 3 other lenses as well, so someone is paying good money for them.

When I sold mine they were nigh-on worthless, I got about 150 quid for mine with the Nikkor 50/1.4,

There's been a bit of a resurgence of interest in 35mm though which will no doubt put prices up.

Quick question for those who might know - I've long lost the Coys programme from the Historic Festival so can't for the life of me remember what the dark blue single seater was in the top photo. It's most certainly British (ie NOT a 250F as some folk seem to think) and reckon it might be an early Cooper but can't be 100% sure. Any ideas?

I'm going for an Equrie Ecosse Cooper T20........

Just look at those lovely Yokohama's. I think they were 501's or something like that. Brilliant tyre. I used them exclusively on my Mk1 Campaign Golf over seven years after the horrible pirelli p600's that came with it..

I have to say that £500 is extraordinary. It must have been extremely mint or an F3T. £150 is average these days for a body and £150-200 for an F1.4 50mm AI lens.

still a lovely camera and film is on it's way back.

P.S. Richard. All those alfa's are lovely and so is Nick Masons 250GTO.

Bingo!! Thanks Nigel - My Dad and I have been wracking our brains this afternoon (he's usually bob-on recognising old F1 cars) but completely missed Connaught out. We'd got it into our heads it was a Ferguson at one stage.

The Connaught team badge/emblem matches the one on the cam covers of the car in my photo.

IMVHO the most beautiful racing car ever built - the Maserati 250F

Good spot re the Yoko's Steve - they're the 510's which were ok, but the 7 wasn't really heavy enough to get the best from them. Great in the hot & dry but quite slimy in wet and/or cool conditions. When I built the car I had Yoko A021R's fitted to the wheels - they were superb but only lasted 3000 miles.

Junked the freebie scanning software and now using Viewscan which is vastly superior.
