As Mrs Gromit had a shedload of post-deployment leave to use up, we managed to grab a decent holiday this year - even the weather played ball for most of the time.

Very nice. Have you ditched all of your SLR kit in favour of the Fujis? I treated myself to an Olympus OMD-10 earlier in the year. When I can compose pictures as well as this I might just post them up

Thanks Paul - I have indeed junked the DSLR.

The EOS 7D was (still is) a fabulous camera but the Fujis are such a joy to use, the image quality is arguably better, and their optics - whilst not cheap - are as good as anything on the market. The fixed lens on the X100 is quite liberating in many ways, and one of the reasons I've mainly got primes with the X-Pro1 (apart from the Fuji 55-200).

I too have got rid of the Digi SLR gear and zoom lenses. I shoot mainly Medium Format now but still retain an old Canon A1 and some rangefinders in 35mm. I did get a Lumix GF1 with a 20mm prime on it as a replacement and use it much more than I ever did the Digi SLR gear. I only shoot primes now and I wish I had got away from zooms years ago. I could never make up my mind where I would want it in the zoom range and now it's easy. If I want more in the frame I walk backwards and if it's less I walk forwards. Easy and as you say, liberating.

Sadly we didn't Dave - firstly I was driving, and Mrs Gromit wanted to nip over to Settle to 'have a look around'.

Still, we got back to Hawes early for a few Black Sheeps.

Oh - can most certainly recommend Cocketts in Hawes for a B&B.
