I'll have £5 each way on an F900R in black.

You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

Re: The time has come!!
Very nice Peter. Did you try the Triumph Tiger 900 before splashing your cash on the XR? I had a go on one as my eventual GS replacement in a few years time, and really liked it. I've only tried the F850 in the BMW range and that left me a bit underwhelmed, but look forward to trying to cadge a go on you XR in Moffat
Cheers,
Paul

Re: The time has come!!
Paul, never tried anything other than the XR. After the weekend away last month--decided I still enjoyed biking but did I really want 2 14 yr old money pits in the garage, NO one will do-test rode the XR and thought this'll do for me. See you in Moffat
Re: The time has come!!
Only base model--with heated grips (its a BMW for gods sake) and pannier mounts,Dont think i'll be buying them at £800 a pair, Didn't feel the need for all the fancy electronics--thats what your Brain and right hand are for!!
Re: The time has come!!
Nice one, Peter.
I got very close to a return to biking very recently (in other words, started browsing Bike Trader) but I'm really not sure now. Spending time doing a lot of *photography (some of it even paid!) but would love to meet up with you and the gang at some point...it'd be on/in 4 wheels though.
*Actually blew my bike budget on a Leica but hey ho...
