Pyrenees, North Spain

Postby GRAgusta » Thu Feb 03, 2022 5:36 pm

We are planning to execute a road trip to Barcelona, for the MotoGp in June.

We will take ferry from Portsmouth to Bilbao and spend 5 days going each way to Barcelona and back, so I am interested in the communal Boxertrix experience of what roads, towns, villages must not be missed.

On this trip it will be four wheels between the two of us, but only one vehicle. Roof will be down however, and entertaining roads are what we are looking for, any suggestions?

I’m no Spanish expert but I do follow the Tour de France and an often crossed mountain peak is the

Col du Tourmalet

Should be some interesting driving around those parts me thinks.

Have a great trip whatever you do :D

Thanks for the suggestion, but I used to live near Col du Tourmalet so have done that on my R1100S, in my then Mini Cooper, have cycled part of it and skied La Monge on the East slope. More keen this time to explore the Spanish side.

Thanks for this heads up. Previously I drove on a tight schedule from Pau to Barcelona, we went from Jaca to Lleida and missed the N260. We have time to spare this time, that wiggly route looks interesting.

Its a great mix of roads with great surfaces. If you do get some time, from Sort, search out the C1130. So worth it.

Further to the west, is the D132/NA137 between Arette to La Pierre Saint Martin and Isaba.

One of the best bike roads that I have ridden.
