Re: R18 landed
Its a considered outright purchase only for connoisseurs. Not everyone`s cup of tea. I have seen it in the flesh, it is remarkable and for the right reasons , Truly eye catching. Sadly and enviously only for the likes of the Rock. Danny Devito`s would not look cool on it.
The exposed shaft is cool. It looks a modern classic . I reckon it will sell, I guess it will also depreciate little. Truly a Giant in Lilliput.
I`d like one but my nether regions would suffer pulling it upright
Chris

Fiat Scudo (with speedblock, pipe carrier, reversing sensors, reversing camera, tow bar, some new rust and Fake Plumber logo)
started out with nothing, still have most of it left.

Re: R18 landed
Saw one in the flesh at Douglas Park Motorrad today when I took my S1000r in for her annual service. Bloody huge and those barrels mahoosive. The tank badges are screw'd on and you get a traditional BMW icon badge with the bike and can change them over so it has more 'Old Skool' appeal
Still not for me, now the RR I was given to play with was a different matter. Colossal engine, magnificent power and delivery, linear to perfection and the 'sussies' did their job to a 'T'. Took her up to Helensburgh, Faslane then over and thru Glen Fruin, out the way and quiet and She didn't disappoint. Only thing is, when I got mine back, instant comfort, compared to the RR and just as fast on real world roads and at real world speeds (up to one fifty). Price to part ex mine against a M-sport RR requested but just 'poking the worm' really I do not need to revisit another sports bike - do I ?

I like it. Not normally a fan of this style of bike but I think BMW have made a decent effort here. Whilst UK sales might not be substantial, it's a massive market in the states and other areas, so if they can get a piece if that pie, why not? Would like to see a version with flat bars, rear sets and a nose fairing - although those pipes don't seem to lend themselves to moving the pegs!

I like it too. It's taken a little while to make up my mind about it - initially, I was turned off by the shear size of it (ridiculous monstrosity; who needs anything that size), and I'm not a fan of cruisers (I don't dislike them, but I find the seating position very uncomfortable for me). But now I take time to really look at it, I love the retro styling. That tank is just right, and the outrageous engine is so 1930s ostentatious, it's almost art-deco. I'd like to take a black and white photograph of one parked in front of our hangar/clubhouse - it was designed in the 1930s by architect Kit Nicholson. I think it would look just right.
It's way too big and heavy for me, but I can see myself pouring over one in the showroom, until the salesperson approaches with glee in their eyes, and I have to disappoint.

The weather today reminds us all that we don’t live in California. Until I do, I’m going to postpone my purchase.
Re: R18 landed
I'm looking forward to custom bikes with that engine. I'm not much in to polishing things but I don't mind putting my finger prints on them.
Re: R18 landed
I find these big cruisers interesting to look at - I like bikes in general - but I don't feel any compulsion to have one.
A friend and neighbour waxed about the R18, but after seeing one he opted for a limited edition Triumph Bobber.

He has two other bikes, and like many of us hasn't been out on them so much this year. In fact the Bobber had only done delivery miles.
This week he moved house to about thirty miles away, to help with the move he asked me to take the Bobber to his new house. I took it on its maiden voyage !!!
I found changing up gears to be quite a dance with the forward pegs, but overall enjoyed the experience. Still, albeit interesting to look at I wouldn't buy one.

Re: R18 landed
Thats the TFC model I think 4k on top of the base model. It looks cool, and it makes the Beemer look crackin value for money. I like cruisers and if you can afford one to enjoy the California Dream a couple of days a year in the Uk then fair play. Depending where you live you can hardly live the 180bhp superbike dream either
