Majestic Wines over on Commiston Rd, Fairmilehead. - was always a favourite for me.....

https://www.majestic.co.uk/stores/edinb ... iston-road

Well worth a visit when they re-open, as their ales (bought along with a mixed case of plonk) are very good (and well-priced).

Knowledgeable staff too.

Got a largish delivery of ales from Hawkshead Brewery the other week, taking advantage of a (20% saving, I think) deal.

https://www.hawksheadbrewery.co.uk/

Current deals: https://www.hawksheadbrewery.co.uk/coll ... case-beers

It seams that while the pubs are closed - these small breweries are offering good deals on delivered beer. (Do what they have to - to survive).

Looks like they've got some good deals on there at the moment Al, I'm just not an Ale man, can't do the stuff but their deals on Rum and Irish Whiskey look decent.

We use Majestic aswell as some independents but during lockdown its been great getting new wines to try and delivered to our door :D

I tried ordering from Aldi wine last week, a dozen bottles selected ... checked on order status next day to find only 6 where being delivered.

When I queried it with Aldi they advised it was because I lived in Wales and Wales and Scotland have minimum alcohol pricing :( I asked if I could change my delivery address to work (England) to be advised it was the cards billing address ... .sigh

I hadn't realised that Wales also had minimum pricing.

I used to take a run to Berwick Upon Tweed - to load up with Asda french lager.......

A case of stubby bottles in BUT £6.25. In Galashiels - £10.

Worth the run for 6 months' worth of beer.

I knew there was a good reason I lived in England.
This must be it.
