BTW I assume of course you're installing a version of Office that is newer or the same as the version of Word that's installed? It's just the later versions of Word allowes the extended document format .docx extension which much older versions did not support. But an add on from MS can be added to the older versions to allow support.

Mr Parrey..........To cut a long story short,
My Daughter needs the use of Microsoft publisher only (old or new) for a month or two and at about £100
she said no way, so I got hold of an old Microsoft office XP professional including publisher thinking it
would be OK for her needs, but then wasn't sure about all her work word documents that where saved
on the pc.
Can just publisher be loaded from the old office and used without the rest, leaving all the other saved work as is.

Thanks
Ned

ah right, yes when you install office there should be a custom install option, if you choose it you can deselect all apart from publisher.

Does it "have" to be publisher? I seem to recall serif offering a freeware dtp package.

Another thing, with you saying your daughter wants it is she in education as MS do educational licenses cheaply (or does she have kids?)

http://education.pugh.co.uk/index.php?n ... rodID=3181

So publisher is only £25 ?

Steve,
I got hold of an old Microsoft office XP professional and there are 3 discs,
one a stand alone publisher disc, so it looks she can install just publisher
or go for the whole package.

Thanks again for your help
