Anyone here into watches

Most of my "non-Rolex" collection:
I guess I like chunky watches, predominately..............
The Seiko Bullhead - I bought in Japan, tax-free in 1977 - for the grand sum of £40. I though I was "Archie" with it............
The Boschett (an American boutique make - weighs a ton)
Casio G-Shock bought S/H on a whim
The Breitling Chrono-Avenger bought off eBay from a fella who wore it once, but couldn't get to grips with the weight/bulk (he wouldn't have liked the Boschett)
The Aerospace - my favourite for trips abroad, where the dual time-zone feature is second to none.

Black Shadow
Recently bought a Precista "Black Shadow", which drew its inspiration from the iconic motorcycle's instruments. It has a black casing (not too obvious from the pics), and fitted with a good Swiss ETA movement.

I changed the strap to one with red stitching, and have to say - that I am well-chuffed with the thing!
I even cobbled together a triple photo of good prints off the interweb - and hung it in my cloakroom (downstairs lavvy) at home.
(too far?)

Nice !
Not paid much attention to Chopard over the years, or realised their provenance.

Re: Anyone here into watches
What would you need to pay to buy a 'quality' watch?
I am not into watches, my most expensive watch was a Seiko kinetic gifted for graduation 25 years ago which I still wear most weeks.
I was considering buying my son a watch for his 21st, but I am genuinely shocked by the price of any brand I might have actually heard of!
Any up and coming brands? Would it be possible to buy a watch for say £500 that would be considered desirable and will still have some cachet 30 years from now, or am I just way off budget?

Re: Anyone here into watches
Hello,
In response to brands... I afraid I am a watch junkie
Try and have a look at Omologato watches which are limited edition motorsport related - Their James Hunt watch is very nice. Sometimes you can snap one up as an Ex-Display if you are lucky. Follow on Twitter for their offers. I have 6 of their offerings... Japanese movements assembled in GB I think.
Avi-8 also do a number of aero related watches and frequently have special offers - Again I have 6 of these! Japanese movements until you go to the high end offerings when some Swiss movements creep in
Also take a look at Christopher Ward who make slightly more expensive watches again motorsport related and also aero related pieces. I own just 3 of these. Swiss movements and assembled in GB.
Given time a lot of the above manufacturers may become classics. Omologato did make a Hesketh James Hunt watch a while ago which are rarely seen for sale now and if one crops up you could expect to pay around £500 - Twice what it sold for originally.
Hope that is of interest?
Best regards,
David.
