Thought of this thread today as we walked round Gatehouse of Fleet in the pouring rain. Some serious attention to the task in hand (drinking whisky) in order to fill 3 windows of a house with empties.

I needed a cork - specifically from a Glennfiddich bottle as it fits tubes that I use for storing stuff.
Anyway, I went to my locak Dan Murpheys - also known as Dr. Dans, to get a bottle of Glennfiddich.

But of course, with such a range, I had to check what else was there.
I also bought this

its only a half liter bottle and cost AUD$100, so that is about GBP100 per liter.
Its a bit good though!
Dont know when I shall drink it though, likely keep it till an appropriate location.
Will probably buy another as well, one to drink and one to keep.

That's got to be the best excuse for buying a bottle of whisky!!

Hanging out for a taster this evening, but despite having about 8 liters in the cellar, I'm not opening any of that, cant drink that its too good!
But a 3 day cycling event coming up in 10 days time and then a week away at my get-away place with friends, I shall need some. Need to make a trip to the bottl'o, choices, choices

For the 3 day cycle event, I picked up a bottle of Glenfiddich Solera cask.
The people that I would normally camp with had different arrangements this year and so I had some on my own instead in my tent.

I then went else where with some others and we put it to use, sitting outside till late at night, under the stars, it was so clear, carrying on and eating and drinking.

mmmmmm still have half a bottle left - thats a good indicator - we enjoyed it rather than drank it.

I drank quite a bit of Oban 14 year old last week on our tour of Scotland after buying a bottle, in Oban funnily enough and really like it, a lot, but tried a Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 year old in Grantown-on-Spey and that is very nice indeed 8)

Well had a visitor at work today, our very own Paul Stratton enroute to places northern from the toxic wastelands of "darn sarf" :)

Not only did he come bearing a belated birthday gift but also some natty gold boxertrix stickers.

The whisky is from his personal stash of Islay single malt, sooooo looking forward to sampling when I get home tonight!

Thanks Paul very very much appreciated!!

When you go, make sure you book a ferry, they get very busy (trucks shunting barley/malt/whisky) so you're lucky if you get on one without booking
