As some may have noted, I'm (rather sadly) selling my 11s. I can't keep both it and my newest acquisition, an '11reg Fireblade. However, just to make sure I've still got a bike I can cover some distance on, last Wednesday, and stopping only for fuel and piddles(5), I rattled this little trip off. This jaunt would have been 'water off a ducks back' on the BM and I must admit after 200miles the'numb bum' saddle was hard to ignore. But next day I Woke up feelin' 'fresh as a daisy'. Nice to know too, that in my 'Twilight Years' (71 and counting) I can still 'hack it'.

It's all VFR (DCT) round here now. STILL missing my 1100s tho.

Average speed is spot on. 50 to 55 mph is a good average meaning that you have ridden to the conditions and had regular breaks long enough to refresh. I guess you made good progress in the open sections where the more congested areas slowed you down and off course had an eye out for the plod. Nothing too risky, just relaxing.

If you can average 55mph at 71 yrs old,
then at 55yrs old - you will average ........ 71mph
And that's FACT

Thanks for all the positive responses lads. The 11s is up for sale on ebay so took it for a brand new MOT today (a 40 mile round trip for me out here in the sticks ) and was again impressed as to what a great 'all-rounder' this bike is. I'm almost tempted to do the same trip again but this time on the BM.
Nick.

Well Nigel, I keep all receipts and jot down the mileometer reading on them at the pay-point.
But my brain hurts trying to work it out. I started out from Kington HR5 3DZ with a full tank and a milometer reading of.... 7252 showing
First stop was at Bangor LL57 4BG 13.18L (18.31) 7406 showing
Next stop was at Ceredigion SY23 1HZ 9.08L (£12.43) 7516 showing
Next stop was at Camarthen SA335DT 8.35L (£11.35) 7615 showing
Next stop was at Worcester WR2 4NR 13.62 (£20.01) 7771 showing that was my last refuel before riding the last 41 miles back to Kington.
You're welcome to do the maths for me mate.
This is my route. Google maps computes it to be slightly less than my speedo reading but I wandered 'off track' (no Sat-nav!) a couple of times so even this is approximate.
Cheers, Nick.

Well Tp I'm not very tall but I am pretty fit. I don't have a beer gut to get in the way and I find the 'blade suits my stature very well and fits me like the proverbial. All in all it's a very comfortable machine for me. I did this 10.5 hour trip non-stop (other than to refuel) and woke the next morning feeling fresh as a daisy. I even sank a few pints in my 'local' before I finally hit the sack.

I once rode 100 miles from the Solway coast up to Edinburgh on the Boxercup, swapped to the R-1 and did another 360 miles up to Stirling, Fort William, and back to Edinburgh.............
I was bloody shattered at the end of the day..............
