But my brain hurts trying to work it out. I started out from Kington HR5 3DZ with a full tank and a milometer reading of.... 7252 showing
First stop was at Bangor LL57 4BG 13.18L (18.31) 7406 showing
Next stop was at Ceredigion SY23 1HZ 9.08L (£12.43) 7516 showing
Next stop was at Camarthen SA335DT 8.35L (£11.35) 7615 showing
Next stop was at Worcester WR2 4NR 13.62 (£20.01) 7771 showing that was my last refuel before riding the last 41 miles back to Kington.

You're welcome to do the maths for me mate.
Cheers, Nick.

Probably gonna regret sticking my head above the parapet but I reckon you averaged 53.39 miles per gallon (519 miles between full to full and 44.23 litres [9.72 gals]) which is pretty bloody good for a litre sports bike and a darn sight better than the S would have managed!

Your most economical section was Bangor to Ceridigion (55.14 mpg) and the worst was Camarthen to Worcester (52.12 mpg)

You're welcome

Cheers DT. You are indeed a brave man and no doubt someone will be along shortly to 'take a POP' at you, but I say, thanks for that. That's amazing. I find that 50+mpg hard to believe but I know my mileage is reasonably accurate and if I missed a fuel stop from my list I can't see where. TBH, I was expecting something in the range 35-42mpg. Balancing economy and pace (smooth with no hard acceleration/breaking) was always at the back of my mind since I originally planned to attempt this on (or near) the shortest night of the year. I (originaly) wanted to see the sunset/rise during the run and West Wales is not the best place for an attack of 'fuel anxiety' in the early hours of a (Sunday?) morning. Eventually tho the weather, as forecast, dictated I went for it on Wednesday.
That Camarthen to Worcester figure is particularly surprising. Without admitting to anything anti-social I can only say that anyone on the quieter stretches of the M4/M5 on that particular evening may have seen a Fireblade (not dissimilar to mine?) being used to very near it's full potential. Mind you, I did have to switch to 'reserve mode' 20 miles or so south of Worcester and dribbled along at 50mph 'till I found a garage in the city. Just s***ing myself now, every time I get a brown envelope drop on the mat.
Oh, and the bike used not a drop of oil but the back tire is looking very worn (tired ? ).

Nick.

It's correct as far as I can work out. Your consumption between all fuel stops varied between 55 and 52 so there were no big variations indicating your mileage recording was consistent (assuming of course gearing/tyre size is correct).

You obviously weren't trying hard enough ! Are you sure it's not a diesel :D

Have a whizz around the same route on the S for comparative purposes

:D

Maybe reduce the "real" MPG by about 7% to account for Speedo over-reading?

Still - anything over 45mpg is good.

Al :)
If I am ever on life support - Unplug me......
Then plug me back in..........

See if that works .....
