Mine seems to spit them off i think it's starting when it spits back through the intake [my ignition timing is as advanced as far as i can go without it pinking] some days it will spin right up other days it will spit back once or twice before starting

I have this strange niggle that when they did the recall fitting two self tappers into the inlet tubes apparently they would blow the inlet tubes off and catch fire [i have never heard of a R1100 catching fire but have heard of GS's doing it] that they retarded the timing a touch as well

The take off rubbers can be replaced with a piece of windscreen wash tubing sealed at one end [lighter and a pair of pliers works]

Certainly covered part of it Steve, after my recent trip to Scotland it was nice getting into Snowdonia it may not have the grandeur of the highlands but it's almost literally on my doorstep

I did a temp fix that I've used before Dai, couple of 1cm pieces of rubber tubing sealed with a screw at the bottom Good idea about the windscreen tubing though, I think I have a foot of tubing from a battey somewhere

I mean what are you doing telling all and sundry about OUR roads up here
in North Wales especially the B5105 from Ruthin to Cerri and the B4501 up past Llyn Brenig and the A543 back to the A5 over the moors.

I am extremely disappointed in you in telling folks just how brill these roads are surely we want to keep them to ourselves and must not encourage the riff raff to frequent them

Now I expect you do do some penance for your misdemeanours and suggest that you supplement your post with a suitable retraction informing folks that all the routes you suggested are a load of cow manure and certainly unsuitable for motor bycylettes especially the Bavarian kind.

it's OK here Bob, the guys here have been on most of the good roads here while on various Welsh weekends .... note I say most ... not all the good stuff

OK Steve I'll take your word that the folks at BoxerTrix are not the 'riff raff' and sometimes may be allowed to circumnavigate OUR roads obviously closely supervised and blindfolded (well mebbe not the last bit) but there are some bits that we just have to keep to ouselves aren't there.

So on no account must we inform them of the continuation of the B4501 from Cerri down to Fron Goch and on pain of most horrible things happening to us they must not be told of the loop from Doggerloo on the A493 via Fairbourne then hanging a left up the B4405 past Abergynolwyn to Tal-y-Llyn (stopping off at the hostelry for some grub)

These must be kept our secret play places and only folks of the highest and most trustworthy credibility (and their willingness to pay for our sustinence) should be allowed to share them with us.

Just an idea but you should be able to get the blanking caps from any good motofactor or small car spare's shop i think they are 3mm should cost coppers

my K12GT is going in for an engine loom, to resolve the hot starting problem that they suffer from, as warranty replacement the weekend after next so I'll pick a couple up from the dealers, they're not dear

I'm doing the Etape Peninnes in a couple of weeks. I am very slow, so I apologise to anyone that lives near by, the road could be closed for days to let me finish.

(not really, there is a minimum average speed of 13mph, after which they reopen the roads)

We went to the Ponderosa yesterday and found the way to Barmouth blocked by Lycra!

Decided to go to Bala and found the main road blocked by a m/c crash.

Diverted though the gravel traps - got to Bala and the road past the lake is closed due to a triathlon!

On the way back - no end of antique lorries taking the exact same diversion round the accident site to Corwen.

Very frustrating, obviously hope the Ducati rider that came off makes a full recovery - but still enjoyed a decent ride.

Given the limitations I have on my spare time these days (no different from anyone else I expect), If I find myself with a couple of hours free I tend to choose the bicycle over the m'bike these days.

Its a bit more social, and on occasion my lad will come along and show me how its done, so I can spend some time with him and get a little more chat than the odd passing grunt.
