New to me R12s
Had an 1100s a few years ago and couldn't resist an R12s. Very different to ride, but if I can find some BMW sports cases and mounting frame I will use it touring rather than my F800GS.

Re: New to me R12s
Welcome on board! There are several folks on here who have toured successfully on their own R1200S, so I'm sure you'll find plenty of advice if you need it. Keep an eye on the "bits and bobs for sale" section since the panniers occasionally turn up in there.
All the best,

You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

Great touring bike with panniers and tailpack you have plenty of room. Done two 2500 mile tours with no problems at all.

Excellent choice of motorcycle done plenty of touring on mine including the odd 500mile in a day with no problems. The panniers are very hard to come by used but in my early days of ownership I did use a bag very similar to this

Congratulations, the r12S if a great bike whose value is appreciating.
I sold the panniers a little while ago, but I still have a set of mounting frames with new OEM bolts. PM me if interested.
