greetings BMW people
I was in Germany this fall and came back to Denmark with this:
... and am now looking to join here for when the tech (and other) questions pop up
Its gone 43000km and is due the 40K service - so I've started to take the thing apart for a refresh of all filters, fluids etc.
A bit about me - I'm 56 years old and have ridden bikes for a while now. I live near Roskilde in Denmark and work as a software test engineer.
The main reason for the switch to the S-boxer was that I wanted something lighter, better handling and a bit more modern (current bike is a Kawasaki GPZ1100 97 model) - plus I always wanted to try boxer BMW ownership
Now, I've done the gearbox, rear shaft drive and engine oil changes - so am about to get started on the fuel filter/air filter renewal... so I will probably be back with more later...
cheers,
Steen

I like the black mate, suits it, You'll love the bike, best bike I've owned, sporty, handles, stops, and is very rare, at least it is here in the s.e. corner of the UK
Plenty of good advice on here, none of it from me
Enjoy....

Re: New R1100S owner from Denmark
thanks for the nice welcome
yup, bike looks OK - there was no point in bringing a rust-bucket to Denmark, as it costs a f..ing fortune to get it registered here (I will practically pay for it once again to get the plates...)
And got the tupperware off - am now gonna empty the tank before removing that.
I suppose its possible to lift up the tank and undo the battery before fumbling around with petrol - would be nice.
(I have done a search on this but didnt find anything - maybe didnt look close enough?)
I'll give it a go - then post in the relevant section if (when) I screw up

Some photos here,
viewtopic.php?t=11076&highlight=fairing+panel+removal removing the rubber fuel lines from the "plastic" ones can be difficult although there may be quick release couplings fitted.
