Hi everbody!
I've just joined. I've just bought a 2003 R1100S in yellow & grey. It has a black engine but silver pots, yellow wheels, fat back tyre, Laser exhaust and a bronze double-bubble screen. 12 years old, only 15K miles, and looks like new! I've done about 600 miles on it to acclimatise, and I reckon I'll keep it. I even quite like the indicators; but the horn and flasher are less than intuitive! I took a test ride on a R1100S over a decade ago and liked it, but it's only now that I've actually gone and bought one. It's my second BMW - my first was a brand new black R75/5 in 1974 - a really lovely bike!
I suppose I'll now sell my current bike, my favourite of all, a P-reg TRX850. The Yamaha was my 39th bike (the Beemer is no 41) and I loved it, but after 6 years it's time for a change. Bike no 40 was an Aprilia Falco, which I thought would be like the TRX, only better; but I hated it. So uncomfortable that I'd get backache after just 20 miles, quite heavy, and with a lumpy engine I didn't take to. So I kept the TRX, but, after 40,000 miles, the old girl now has to go.
The first thing I did to my new BMW was to give the oil a shot of Activ8, a brilliant oil additive that I've used to good effect on all my engines. I've bought a Bagster tank cover and tank bag, but will have to think carefully about soft rear luggage.

Welcome.
Certainly agree about the flasher (not the indicators, Dave!)......had mine for 2.5 years and I still think it's pants.
