A RECENT ADDITION WHICH .......

Postby Blackal » Thu Apr 17, 2014 6:22 pm

is yet to get some red rim-tape...................

Last week ..........

And here in Moffat today...........

Image

And at home................. Took the bellypan off for cleaning, and didn't bother putting it back - that exhaust is too sexy to hide.

Spur of the moment purchase - has under 3,000 miles on it.

Was out for the first "decent" run on it today, down to Moffat and back. Foly Huck! It goes at the speed of many antelopes! I was feeling it was unusually hard work, until I checked the speedo! Ve-e-ery easy to go way too fast.
Not a bike for "round the houses" - you typically want to be one ratio lower than the R1100s or R1200GS, and 1st is quite tall.

Mirrors were next to useless, but at least you could peek under your oxters if you push your elbows out - a la Bush and Blair.

Bought a couple of spacers for the mirrors - slightly better, but might have to fit "Caravan mirrors"......

:D
If I am ever on life support - Unplug me......
Then plug me back in..........

See if that works .....

You lucky barsteward. Nice one. Look up Sandbar for the S1000RR mirror mod. My mate did it and it made a massive difference, instead of a full elbow he now sees only the tips.

Nice , interesting that you find it so fast compared to the 11, I wonder how they compare to the 12s?

Gorgeous mate. Absolutely gorgeous.
There was one in my local dealer showroom recently (Clarks BMW - was marked as 'sold', but still in prime position on the shop floor) when I went in to pick up some parts, and I took a few moments out of my life to stand and admire. And dream.......

Love it Al. That exhaust system is cool as penguins chuff. Is it me or does the colour scheme give the bike a sort of stealth / can,t quite make it out look?
A cracker indeed.

Nice bike. Did you get the standard exhaust system with the bike? I m not 100% convinced about the looks of the akra but bet it sounds epic.

Lovely bike Al

But are you sure you've bought a genuine example and not one of these

That's more like it Mitch :D

I've seen them race at Le Mans in the world endurance and they were fantastic, on the brakes, through the corner and the initial grunt coming out really showed up some of the 4 cylinder bikes, obviously they didn't have the top end but it was good to see an old air cooled twin boxer doing the business

That Akra is a couple of grand and well worth it. The race bikes differed from the production model in one very specific item.
