When I get round to sorting some out for mine I'll get a few sets knocks up. Also get some longer braided for the extra height. It's not hard, I've designed and got all sorts of stuff made over the last few years, I used to make it myself, but been out of that industry for some years now. Still have the contacts tho.

I've just completed the securing of my bars after having moved them up on top of the yoke. I did so on the advice of my good friend/BMW tech. He's been wrenching Beemers for over 25 years now and is known as the Airhead Guru around these parts(Northeast US). He told me the bars should be secured. He's the MAN so I removed the top yoke, (you will need the special BMW slotted socket and allen wrench), had the bottom anti-rotation holes drilled and tapped all the way through the top of the yoke. Next reassembled the top yoke,(apply Loctite to or replace the balljoint securing nut). Finally, secured the bars adding a spacer and longer screws. Not a huge job to tackle but you'll need the BMW tool and the balljoint nut is a bear to remove with the factory thread lock.

Just seen my mates r1100s with top mounted bars.. I mentioned that they should be locked somehow. He said they were.. Was a locating lug on handle bar which fitted into a larger slot in the top of the pinch slot on yoke.. (if you see what I mean.. can't get pic!)

I believe your friend has the OEM "Comfort Bar" setup. My bars were originally located below the yoke.
