R1200s seat mods

Postby andy griff » Mon Mar 24, 2014 5:17 pm

Greetings boxer community,

I have managed to secure an extra rider's seat for my bike and want to modify it so that it is

(a) not as mega slippy, and
(b) more comfortable

than the original. So, I would be grateful to hear from any members that have modified their seat ( I know lots of folk think the standard seat is cr&p) with

(a) what they have done, and
(b) any recommendations for upholsterers to do the work.

Pics would be fantastic.
Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy

I've had my seat modified by in Saxon seats in Poole Dorset, they added a gel insert, which helps a little but it's not great, the vinyl has started to ruck-up now some 4 years later (17k miles) later, I wished I'd spent the extra and bought a Corbin/Sargeant from the States, now I'd like to try a std seat again but I've not seen any for sale for a long time.

I'll slip down into the garage later and post a piccy for you.
Phil.

I saw a couple of 12`s at Phillip Island they had a sheepskin pad fitted, along with a good few other bikes in the bike park, good enough for the aussies! maybe Steve can find us a spare fleece in April.

If you are an ADVrider member Alaska leather gives discounts.
I purchased one of their pads for my 12S and it does stop the slippage problem

Cheers
