My R1100S reached a milestone yesterday, 100,000 miles
A 2000 bike that I've owned since May 2001.
Since then it's taken me to Europe 7 times, toured the UK and general hooning about in Scotland.
In the process its eaten it's way through:
19 rear tyres,
14 front tyres,
Probably 9000 litres of unleaded,
Had two new batterys
Now on its fourth rear shock absorber. Mind you one was replaced under warranty after failing in France at 38k. Another one (Hyperpro) failed due to me being exuberant on the rather bumpy Moffat to Selkirk road
One replacement steering damper
One replacement drive shaft at 19k (BMWs fault for making it too short and out of tolerance)
Two replacement paralever bearings
One bevel box bearing
One fork seal at 78k
Rear brake disc and five sets of pads
Replaced front discs at 85k. That's only the second set of front pads
Replaced rear brake master cylinder
Replaced leaking Oil sight glass
Replaced gearbox seal output shaft seal (it's leaking oil again)
Replaced front wheel bearings twice
Hate to tally up how much in £s all the above and servicing cost per mile. Still love the old bike and the smiles per mile
