New camera test in Snowdonia

Postby Paul » Tue Apr 02, 2019 10:18 am

Hi Folks,

Just spent a couple of days in Snowdonia playing with a new camera. The attached short (1 minute) video is the first thing I have shot with it. A virtual pint of beer to the first person to guess how camera the movements on the bike were achieved. There's a bit of drone footage in there for good measure. Click the link to see the video.

Cheers,

Paul
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

Mister (camera) gadget rides again! Or was that flies again?

You must have come past both Steve's and my door - should have given us a shout and we could have met you for a pint.

I'm contemplating a return trip next week, so will keep you both in the loop to plan a beer. I stayed 2 nights in Betws-y-coed so I could play all day in Snowdonia. Assuming I stay there again on Thursday and Friday next week, where would be a good place to meet up, and would you like to come out to play on your bikes on the Friday?

Yes keep us in the loop please.
Friday next week is Good Friday and I may be heading in the opposite direction depending on how stuff pans out, so Thursday might be on the cards.
I'll PM you my mobile.
Can't speak for Steve who is working during the daytime.

Not a motorised camera mount, but a 360 degrees camera. I bought an "Insta360 One X" which was fixed with a RAM mount to my wing mirror. The camera captures a complete 360 degree spherical image, and then when editing the footage, I can pan a virtual camera around in the full image to choose which portion of it you see. The joy of the system is that it does not matter which direction you point the camera in, or where the action you want to show takes place, since you can select the final view to be shown when editing the raw footage.

Cheers,

Paul
