Goodbye Granite...
...hello Orange & Grey!
Having seen the great work of Chris Tunbridge on this site, I took my grey R1200RS along to him for a makeover. Originally, I planned to recreate the orange and silver "R90S Daytona" paint job, but we decided that that would not suit the angular bodywork of the R1200RS, so we came up with an alternative orange and grey colour scheme with a silver pin stripe separating the colours. I picked the bike up today and am delighted with the result. Chris truly is the Stradivarius of the spray booth. This is what the bike looks like now:
...and the new colour matches the orange backlighting on my dashboard
Even the logo is done in paint, no stickers here:
Thanks to Chris at CT Motorcycle Services for his most excellent painting skills transforming my bike.
Cheers,
Paul

You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

Re: Goodbye Granite...
That looks brilliant although do the calipers need to be a different colour?

Very impressive I must say, it gives the bike a much more dynamic look.

Not that I want to piss on your chips - it is a better attempt than standard without a doubt - but have you told your insurance co.
There would appear to be a surfeit of prolixity and sesquipedalian content today please do not use a big word when a singularly un-loquacious and diminutive linguistic expression will satisfactorily accomplish the contemporary necessity

Re: Goodbye Granite...
Yes I have told my insurance company. I have been with Carole Nash for 13 years without a claim, and they said they would not touch it. I ended up switching to "Be Wiser" who charged me less than Aunty Carole had been doing of late too, with full disclosure on the paint job.

He does really good work. Certainly different but I will withhold judgement until seen in the flesh. You won't have trouble finding it at a race meeting

Re: Goodbye Granite...
Looks good Paul. Have I read correctly and Carole Nash wouldn't cover it with a new paint job?

Re: Goodbye Granite...
That's exactly right Dave. I did corner a senior chap on the Carole Nash stand at the NEC show to harangue him about it, and he claimed that they would insure it, but the guys answering the phones don't seem to have that same view... Rather than wasting my time trying to get Aunty Carole to play the game, it was easier to switch to "Be Wiser".

Re: Goodbye Granite...
That looks really good Paul Much prefer 'gloss' finishes to the silk/ matt used by BMW. Makes mine look really dull now.
Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.
Cheers
