I wonder if anyone can tell me if the injectors may have been damaged or if there is something else I should have done?

I'd disconnect the fuel pipe to the injector and blow it out , just to confirm there's no water there or sitting on top of the injector. I don't think it'll damage the injector though ..... I may have a spare second hand set you can borrow if you need to eliminate any problems. Or at least get the original set checked by a specialist?

Thanks Nigel, appreciated. I will blow out all the fuel lines as you suggest, currently have everything stripped awaiting delivery of the filter. Checked the injectors visually and they are not leaking under pressure and both appear to be spraying the same so fingers crossed all will be well.

Re the footpeg lowering, we have just got a set of Knight Design pegs for the S100RR. I didn't think it would make much difference but how wrong I was, made the bike sooooooo much better!

For want they are, not cheap and had to pay import tax (made in the US, I pay with my taxed money and the Gov wants another £27 for doing what, exactly?? Rant over).

Dead easy to fit, took about 2 minutes. Maybe look a bit clunky on the S1 but work well.

Just a short postscript to the saga which was finally put to bed this evening I am glad to say.
Following on from the breakdown on the way back from Scotland following 4 hours of torrential rain on the motorway and the subsequent recovery.
The tank was drained, fuel filter replaced, fuel lines blown out , fuel system pressure tested, plugs changed, plug leads checked, the bike still ran like shite. The £50 pair of E Bay injectors arrived today, fitted tonight and bike running like a dream. I am back in love again. :D

Dunno if the water in the fuel caused the injector to fail, it seems from my research they never give trouble, but for whatever reason it did.

Seat to footpeg distance was a bit tight, meaning the knees were a bit cramped, vario pegs to drop an inch would make all the difference.
I am thinking.... what is to stop it happening again if you have not sourced the water ingress situation? Are all the uppermost seals good.. filler cap seals, top tank flange seal? was the filler cap closed properly under the tank bag when it was pishing down? Water got in from somewhere? :?

Good point, wecould only conclude it was the filler cap O ring not seated properly. My argument at the time was that petrol wasn't coming out, but then again thinking about it. the petrol lever would rarely be that high and only for a very short time. Whereas water coming from very extreme rain over a few hours at motorway speeds could easily get driven in under the plastic tank cover and along the aluminium tank.
Just don't know for sure, but we fitted a new O ring and make absolutely sure it was seated properly, so I shall keep an eye on the inside of the filler in extreme conditions.

Hi. I had that problem with the filler cap before. For some reason the cap didn't seat properly, you should hear it click as the lock engages when pushed down. Maybe I didn't pay attention. Fuel leak is not good on track day.

I have never heard of water getting past the seal before but it could take a fair amount of pressure to seat the filler cap. You can loosen the ring and move it around a bit. There is a tiny bit of play so with the cap seated and lock engaged do the screws up tight.

Eyore, isn't your first thought, contaminated fuel, more likely?
BTW getting the filter out.... the joy, the shouting... don't want to be your neighbour, when you do it first time!
Also, not mandatory, but advised to get new clips (really hard to find), as old ones sometimes break when you clamp them back on.

Sorry but when I changed the fuel filter on my 1100s (did it three times) I never took the clips off the pipes will come off and go back on without taking the clips apart this was a tip I picked up from BOXERTRIX and it worked.
There would appear to be a surfeit of prolixity and sesquipedalian content today please do not use a big word when a singularly un-loquacious and diminutive linguistic expression will satisfactorily accomplish the contemporary necessity

That was my thoughts Mike ,but the only other possibility was the failure of that O ring to seat properly. As Steve pointed out ,petrol makes the O ring expand and stops it sitting in the groove properly. Leave the O ring on a rad overnight and the petrol evaporates out and the O ring shrinks to the correct size. Don't think I will ever know for sure.
Incidentally, pump and filter came out fine, all clips were fine to reuse .
