Hi Paul, I keep getting this rather annoying error message, can anything be done to fix it?

It looks like we are under a Denial of Service attack. I just cleared out 700 new accounts on the site registered this month, with 35 of those registered today before 7:00 AM... not sure how to stop that, other than changing our security question for new account creation.

Hello Paul, what about fronting with a free cloudflare account? https://www.cloudflare.com/en-gb/plans/

The site seems a lot more stable since I changed the registration validation. Is anyone still getting those "MySQL server has gone away" error messages?

Cheers,

Paul

You maybe have to clear your cookies?

Try using Chrome 'incognito' mode which should ignore all profile/cookies.
