Wanted - R1200S or R1100S Boxer Cup
Moderators: Gromit, Paul, slparry
You're both right. I remember the publicity around the launch of the BMW UK bikes, and then BMW AG launching the Randy Mamola BCR but in my mind it happened earlier than 2002 / 2003.
It didn't though, 'cause I've just checked the interweb and that backs up what you say - and the interweb is ALWAYS right
Here's a press release I found:

I've always thought those BMW GB (Bulldog) ones were a bit shonky.......
Crazier money asked for them - than the original Randy Mamola ones, but I suspect buyers are few and far between. Could be some folk paid high sums to find out that they are stuck with them or they dropped a couple of thousand £££s to sell quickly.

Agreed. I rate a RWB BCR much higher - more add-ons, twin-spark, better paint job, etc.

IMHO the Mamola BCRs are ridiculously overpriced. What you're getting over an R1100S Sport is a paint job (literally just different colours in the case of a yellow/black job like mine), a CF belly pan and valve covers and the Laser exhaust and chip - or am I missing summit?
R1100S Sport - circa £2k
R1100S BCR - £4K - £6k
I guess it's all about exclusivity. Madness I tell thee, madness...

I'm specifically talking about the Mamola BCRs. The suspension set up and ride height on one of those is the same as an S Sport. I appreciate that the later ones are super jacked up (and prettier IMO).
I know the belly pans are eye-wateringly expensive, but a minimum of a 2 grand premium over the 'lesser' bike? Nah, I'm not 'avin' it
Each to their own though, eh?

If selling prices are around £6k for a Mamola version - and the new price was £9k? (the RWB was £9,200 from memory) -
I'm trying to think of any other bike which isn't a true classic construction (Duc 916, SP-1/SP-2 etc) - which has retained that much value after 13-14 yrs?
Even if you take the average price of a good one at £5,300 - it's amazing.

This, sadly, is my R1200S up for sale due to a bad back & knackered wrists.

I gave the bike a good wash and polish to take some photos of it looking its best & to tell you the truth, after talking to a couple of guys who phoned regarding selling the bike, I was obviously listing the bikes many attributes & ended up selling it to myself. It is a bloody good bike & I love it. Visiting an osteopath has made me more optimistic also. So I am sorry if I've wasted peoples time, but I'm going to keep it.
