Mine did exactly this on the way to the Mondello SB's a few weeks ago...I wrote about it here then.

Similar conditions before ie. very wet.

Despite going back to dealer cos still under warranty, never really got to the bottom of it. pidcocks changed the throttle pot and said it might be that, I ...

Lubricating bolts...copaslip et al

For my sins I have a bit to do with bolted fixings...and just a word of caution.

Be careful with tightening torques and lubricated threads. A change to the mu (coeff of friction..scuse me if I am patronising you all here) will radically effect both the clamping load of the bolt generated by a ...

Bike has 15000 miles on it.

Side stand was one of the things WD40'd...couldn't work out how to take it apart to check further.

Really a couple of things don't make sense to me;

Why the first time it would happily run 80 dry miles, before starting to stutter...water sinks so I would have expected ...

Sump bolt?

Can anyone please put me out of my indecision and guide me to the correct sump bolt for training the engine oil? :oops:

Don't have a manual and there seem to be a couple of options.... :?

A photo would help if possible.

Thanks

Well every new chap has to ask it....oil?

Hi All

Indulge the new guy...

From reading a number of strings on this thorny topic I gather that BMWR1100S are best fed;

1. A reasonably heavy mineral oil 20/50 ish or the first 12K miles or so.

2. Then something lighter and perhaps semi-synthetic for the next few miles and longer.

When I ...

Hi Andy

Rack arrived during the week. :D

I was working in Germany so could fit it till the weekend...but it's on now. Fits well and looks only a bit ugly but such is the price of practicality I suppose and I guess it can always come off after the summer tour....if I can be bothered! :wink ...

Track day

Hoping to try Darley Moor on the 24th May (if as I say the weather is OK).

It's only about 35 mins from me and I have never been there before..I used to race a 250 MZ :twisted: about 12 years ago but we never had meetings there for some reason....Mallory, Cadwell (lots) , Three Sisters, Snetterton ...

Rear luggage rack?

Hi All

In addition to the track day dreams, my girlfriend n' me are planning a trip to France / Germany in July. A quick trial run to Devon a couple of weekends back revealed that we could do with extra luggage space...got the BMW panniers with the bike.

Could anyone advise me who does rear racks ...

Thanks Jim and others for advice.:)

The idle raise you mention...could you point me in the direction of the adjuster..had a quick look and can't see an obvious knob to turn..probably just being dim.

Assuming the weater is good (not going if its pissing down!...fell off at Donnington on 7r on a ...
