Cheers for the replies. Stopped by the BM dealer on the way home for a chat with the mechanics (I pop in occasionally as I get on well with them). They reckon the 1200's are OK. The non servo 1150's (I need to research model history) are a better buy, servo trouble can be expensive apparently. They ...

GS Opinions Please

Hello Chaps, It's been a while but I'm toying with the idea of buying another BM, possibly a GS. Given that the 1100s spent more time off the road than anything else I've ever owned with the exception of the pair of MK1 Guzzi Lemons I've owned, is the GS any better? Budget will stretch to a decent 1...

Hiya Malc Where the hell have you been!!! we have to put with Blackbirds on this site so i'm sure war and piece about you Blade won't go amiss. Hi Chris, Not much to report really. I pop in for a read from time to time but don't post as I generally don't have anything to contribute. The Blade has g...

Mine burnt holes in the pistons at 67K.

The Blades got 73K on it now and is still going well.

It was one of those moments you needed to be there to appreciate and was posted on the old Yahoo group at the time.

To summarise, it was pissing with rain, on a motorway, going to a group away weekend. Neither of us was going to back off and Gromit lost.

My first S (back in 1999) was an ex-BMW staff bike from Bracknell. Bought it with 600 miles on the clock and sold it a year later with just over 20k showing. Great bike it was and never missed a single beat.

Shame it was dog slow though.

How can an R6 be your first bike? I thought everybody had an RD250 first.

Anyway, use the cash from the R6 as a deposit on a Blade, you won't reget it.

No time like the middle of a heat wave to reply to a heated clothing question. With respect to Gerbing, should their kit break they replace it by return of post. Last winter they kindly replaced 9, yes 9 pairs of gloves and 1 jacket. Apparently they had rather large batch of gloves with dodgy elemen...

Julian, I'll give a 640 a try to see if it's any different. The reason I fancy a change is that the bottom disc in my back is starting to go and seats have taken on a big importance. I've always found "trailies" fairly comfortable so am looking in that direction to start with. I could always do big ...

I wanted a go on the 640 but they didn't have a demo one. The 640 has a different seat plus a few other bits like carb which help to tame the vibration a bit. I'll try and get a go on one. When I test rode my first Buell I hated the thing. A few weeks later I rode a race kitted bike and ordered one....

Todays test ride

With a bit of spare time to kill at lunchtime I grabbed an hour on a KTM 625 SMC. What can I say. Handling and braking were superb, the seat and vibration have to be experienced. For a laugh I thought I take it on a bit of dual carriageway, just in case I should encounter some were I to own such a m...
