Finished the 80k service on my bike too. Engine and gearbox oil, filter, air filter, alternator belt, valve clearances, brake bleed and pads, repainted the bar ends, drilled out the old hero blobs and a general clean and polish too. All said and done, pretty easy, and I've saved myself a ...

Thanks again for all the help regarding my 80k service. I'm half way though, and going really well, although the arrival of our first nipper has temporarily interrupted my workflow :p

Looks like the front pads will be needing replacement in a few months (still a bit of meat left on them ...

My bike is due it's 80,000 KM service shortly. I called my local BMW dealer and was quoted $900 ish. To be fair, I believe the 80k service is pretty big with lots of replacement parts. I know they'll do an awesome job with official parts and I'll get a loan bike for a few days included.

That said ...

So... riding down the freeway in an 80 kph section. Coming up to a 100 kph section so down to 4th and ready for a nice shove to get up to the new speed. Pull into lane to overtake and wind throttle on. Rewarded with nice dollop of thrust forwards. All normal so far..

Then.. rev limit reached ...

The previous owner had fitted raised bars (heli-bars I think) and braided lines. The lines were designed and measured for the standard bike, so the front line was taut when the forks were at full extension. Seems to increase, so reacting to more input from the road.

I'm getting a strange sensation I can't pin down and that seems to be getting worse. It feels like tiny clicky bumps though the handlebars, as if I'm hitting the occasional tiny stone on an otherwise perfectly smooth road surface.

Happens every few seconds on the freeway.

I can only feel it ...
