Had a similar issue with mine when I first got it it looked like the previous owner may have over cranked it at some point,The starter is only held in a couple of bolts, May be worthwhile taking out and getting it benchtested to allay your fears,

Hi all a question if I may my,
today on the way home I filled up with petrol
And withn 12 miles, it started a miss fire at low revs,
If I increase the Revs the misfire stops as I drove home and get decidedly worse and actually cut out three times when I pulled up to traffic lights,

Re take on my last statement
Well all I can say is i re took the pin out ( it was a dry a my bank balance )
Greece refitted and tightened until no play between 12 and 6 and 3 and 9
And to get it to that stage it's about 16 nm on my 18 year old bar,
Well I'll see how it rides tomorrow and probably book it in to the main stealer

Hi thanks for the responses, 7 nm or 61.9 inc lb that seams tight for the pin but will do it thanks all

Pivot pin torque settings
Hi all looks like I have play in the final drive at 12/6 and 3/9, but have noticed that there seams to be no lock tight on the left hand adjustment side, and the inner pin is finger tight,
Looking on internet I have got people quoting from 7 to 25 foot lb and 70 to 115 foot lb for the retaining nut ...
