Transmission doesnt have washer on drain plug, but curiously does on fill plug 18x22

Never heard of it before, when was it last serviced? Fastener security is part of a service Im sure.

Start with the obvious first, check that the Index marks align on the end of the gear shift shaft and lever...........
and if there are any obstructions, bits of rock, stone etc.

I replaced all the bits on mine once, but also found that you could at a push rotate the bobbins a bit and retighten the bolts, it would sometimes remove most of the rotational play.

No not the wheel, the movement is at the final drive /swing arm interface. I am thinking uj pivot bearings area.
