old bikes

I keep an eye out for my old bikes on Ebay and my old R1200S turned up today. Sadly the back end of the bike has been butchered. Maybe the photos don't do it justice but it looks like the sort of mod a 'yoof' would do to his Chinese scooter. It used to have the Remus pipes with the standard endcan w...

Time on my hands...

In the unlikely event of me winning the lottery, I would run a HP2 Sport race team in international road racing (TT, etc.). This scenario is rather unlikely though, because I don't buy lottery tickets. I've always wondered how well the HP2 Sport (or R1200S Rennboxer, as it was known) would fare at t...

Re: New bike ....

Great!

There're a couple of good groups on facebook and BSK Speedworks do some special stuff for them.

The pannier lids have a reputation for coming loose on the move apparently so put a bit of tape on them temporarily until you can secure them properly.

Re: My 2004 R1100S Diary

Nice bike(s). I've got a K1. I find the gear changes on it (and the old R1100S I had) to be fine, but I suppose it depends on what you're used to. Compared to a modern Japanese box with their 'snick snick' gearchanges they would probably feel agricultural. You do need a more 'positive' action in com...

Quirky - Which is what you want from BMW's idea of a sports bike! Given the weight (which disappears on the move) and 'only' 100bhp it goes really well - loads of old skool torque and neutral handling. It can cover ground deceptively quickly. Great with a pillion too.

Good to hear you're slowly on the mend Steve. Take it easy.

Re: BCR rebuild/recommission

Have a look at Ramshox ( http://www.ramshox.com ). They do front and rear shocks for the R1100S. They also do the RAMSTRUT, which is the adjustable rear paralever for adjusting the ride height. Also their RAMLEVER, the front Telelever with pivot mount shortened by 10mm to sharpen the steering. Quite...

Sounds fantastic (bike & dash cam).
Where does the dash cam mic fit? There's hardly any wind noise.
Do you have a link to it on ebay/etc.?

Re: Cyclists

Look on the bright side; here in the newly-rebranded West Midlands Combined Shithole the cyclists think they own the pavements.

(Disclaimer: Nothing against proper cyclists who ride properly but they appear to be a dying breed.)

Yes. Petrol, tea, toilet, what more could you want?!
Admittedly midweek but surprisingly few bikes there, considering the weather was pretty good.

Somewhere in Crossgates.

Somewhere in Crossgates.
K1 and 1150R.
Both bikes are really good at covering ground quickly.

Re: Tips on How to ride a R1100S

I found the R1100S to be very stable and surprising agile. Michelins suit the bike. I don't think you should need to give the 'funny front end' any extra thought compared to forks (unless you've a fast trackdayer) - it just works. So there must be a problem somewhere. As others have said: Check age ...

It's my photo stop place whenever I have a new bike. I've built up a photo history of that forest sign over the years!
